I think the most important thing is to find a treatment plan that gives you ongoing bleed protection to prevent bleeds from adding to already existing pain from damage caused by prior bleeds. There are so many treatment options available now that it is important to talk to your healthcare professionals if you are not satisfied with the bleed protection from your current treatment. With bleed risk mitigated, I find that exercise and activity can be helpful in helping with joint health and alleviating joint pain. I am lucky that as a 66 year-old, I can usually manage my pain with an occasional dose ofTylenol. Beyond that,I find that meditation and focus on enjoyable activities (reading, listening to music, playing games) that can distract are also helpful.

If you need help getting started with excercise and activity that is appropriate for your current physical condition, HTC's usually have affilated physical therapists, local hemophilia chapters often hold education programs that involve education on physical therapy and physical activity, many of the phama companies that manufacture our hemophilia therapy products have webinars and in person prgrams that offer support for pain management techniques and exercise programs. Hope Charities (Hope for Hemophilia) has an annual online Joint Conference focusing on joint health. Take advantage of the reources provided by your HTC, the hemophilia chapters, the pharma education programs, and other organizations within the hemophilia community.

Every path is different, so seek out the resources that will work for you.
