Overview

Stimate is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to stop bleeding episodes in children and adults with mild hemophilia A or mild to moderate von Willebrand’s Disease. Stimate is also known by its drug name, Desmopressin. Stimate is an antidiuretic. It is believed that Stimate works in cases of hemophilia by increasing levels of clotting factor in the body.

Prescribing information states that Stimate is given as a nasal spray.

Side effects

The FDA-approved label for Stimate lists common side effects including headache, nausea, abdominal cramps, and vaginal pain. Rare but serious side effects listed for Stimate include changes in blood pressure, thromboembolic events, and systemic allergic reactions.
